We can’t believe it, but somehow we are only two weeks away from the summer!
Thank you to all the parents and famlies who attended sports day this week – it is always lovely to share activities, and we hope you enjoyed seeing the children competing in all the sporting challenges we had to offer. Thanks also to Mr Williams who arranged the event, and ensured that the morning ran smoothly.
Next week is an exciting week for all children in the academy, as Year 6’s make their way off to secondary schools for their transition days, and all other year groups get to spend time in their new classrooms with their new teachers!
If you have any questions about transitions, please ask at the office or at the school gates.
Come on England!
Let’s see what our early KS2 classes have been up to since we last heard from them.
Year 3 have had such a busy week this work, working really hard on our teamwork within the class. In English, we worked collaboratively to figure out our tenses.
The week was then topped off with an amazing sports day! We loved taking part in races and having our parents there to watch us show off our skills.
Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful Locke Park and were particularly inspired by the stunning reflections in the water.
To channel our inner Monet, we took a variety of photographs to use as a stimulus to create their own beautiful impressionist-style artwork!
The children thoroughly enjoyed their work on Claude Monet and learning about the beautiful and timeless art of Impressionism.
B3 have had a very busy week! We have had a wonderful visit to Senses Wellbeing Centre to link with our Science topic- light.
The children were fantastic representatives for Dormanstown Primary as they displayed our values of inspiration, aspiration, celebration and collaboration. Everyone loved exploring and discovering new light sources such as projectors and light up toys.
B3 also learnt how shadows are made by testing out opaque and translucent objects against the light sources.
In English, B3 found a lost tiger in the classroom! He needed help creating a non-chronological report to tell the zookeepers what tigers eat and what they need in their habitats. The children have created amazing non-chronological reports with lots of interesting facts about tigers.
We have had a brilliant week and are hoping for some sunshine next week!
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
This weeks winners are………
49.5 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.
This week we had 221 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Brilliant!
A huge WELL DONE to you all.
Can you get 100% next week?
We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy. Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible. Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.
Next week’s choices will be Week 3.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
Jump Back Up July is the new month, with plenty of actions to take, which ones will you be doing next week?
You can get your children’s uniform here.
