Weekly Round up

This week has seen lots of visitors in the school (some of them very important!) and we are delighted to say that every single guest has come away full of praise as to what they have seen! The children have been a credit to you all, and their friendly, caring demeanor has been recognised by everyone. One visitor went as far as to say that they had never heard a discussion about art as impressive as the one they heard between a group of our Year 4’s!

Elsewhere Y5 have been working hard on their Sports Leader Training, working with the Redcar and Eston Sports Partnership. They have been considering how to be part of a team, collaborate and to help support and encourage others when undertaking sporting activities – well done Year 5!

Finally, Friday saw the annual MacMillan Cancer Support bake sale – and we were blown away by the generous donations of our community. Staff were rushed off their feet at home time and we are excited to hear the final count of how much was raised for such an important cause.

Class Showcase

This week it’s time to see the latest from Year 3 and Year 4

Year 3 Miss Matthews

This week Year 3 have enjoyed sequencing the story of the Stone Age boy within English.

Everyone worked so well in their pairs to sequence the story step by step to start re-telling it.

In PE they have been focusing on gymnastics and different balances they can perform with their partner. We have learnt that a balance needs to be help for at least 4 seconds.

Well done keep it up.  

Year 4 Miss Hogarth

This term  in science, Year 4 have been working hard to answer the question, ‘How do we hear?’ In this topic we have explored how we hear sounds starting from an object vibrating, up until the soundwave enters our ears. 

We then delved deeper to investigate how sound travels through different mediums including using string telephones to explore what happens to sound when it travels through a solid, as well as this we discovered how soundwaves travel through water.

Attendance

Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.

Which class will be the first to receive that treat?

This weeks winners are………. B3 with 100%!!

Missed Appointments

We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy.

Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible.

Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.

Mental Health Support in Education

We invite you to an event on 3^rd October 2023 at Inspire2Learn, Normanby Road, Middlesbrough, TS6 9AE from 5pm until 6.30pm (please see enclosed leaflet for more information).

The aim of this event is to showcase the current offer available in your child/ren’s school and hear from you what your thoughts are on how this could be improved. We are also running sessions alongside this event for Primary and Secondary age children/young people, so please do bring along your child/young person to participate.

Uniforms

As we are all being affected by the cost-of-living crisis, we have a small stock of preloved uniform and coats/jackets that parents can come and purchase, all we are asking for is a donation. This will be open for you to come and have a look on a Tuesday & Thursday between 08.50 – 09.15 and 14.40 – 15.00 via the main office.

Lollipops

You can also get your children’s uniform here.

Lollipops have a preloved rail out on the shop floor with various items on including polo tops, trousers, sweatshirts/cardigans, shoes, plimsolls, summer dresses etc. All items on the rail are free for anyone to take, they just ask for customers to be considerate of others when taking items. There is a box for anyone who would like to make donations which we then add to the rail.
