Wow. This week has been incredibly busy, from the summer fair to the Year 6 leavers performance, afternoon tea for families in B4 and a three-course dinner for Year 6 families to name a few! Thank you to every member of staff for continuing to give these wonderful opportunities right until the final day of term.
A HUGE thank you to the whole community for helping to make our Summer fair a massive success. We are pleased to announce that over £2000 was raised! An incredible sum and certainly the largest sum we have raised, in recent history. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! A big thank you to the catering team who put in a very long shift to support the fair this year and kept us all very well fed. Mental note- get to the cake stand earlier!
In my first blog I mentioned the ‘Dormanstown Welcome’ – little did I know that as part of that, I would have my head in the stocks having wet, gravel-covered sponges thrown at my head!
The money that was raised will be spent on all our children and we plan to use these funds to increase our enrichment, trips/visits offer for next year, with the aim being that all year groups from Year 1 and S2 and above are off-site to enhance their learning at least once a term; and Foundation Stage pupils, relevant to their age and stage of development.
A substantial number of parents have spoken to me over these five weeks about the lack of notice they have received this year regarding school events. In response to this, please find below and via email today, the 2024 Autumn Term dates list. This list will be resent in Autumn as a reminder, and dates will appear on the weekly blog as usual. Spring dates will be released in September to give families plenty of notice.
On behalf of the staff, I wish all families a fun, restful and safe Summer holidays. School will re -open on 4th September and we look forward to welcoming children back to school.
Thank you for your support, Mrs Kell
B4’s Year 6 – what a pleasure! I am so proud of you all. I have truly enjoyed watching you grow, trying your best and forming some wonderful relationships. I hope the future comes with an abundance of fun, love and laughter. Remember who you are and it’s how you see yourself that counts. Enjoys the summer and good luck in year 7. You’ll be missed – Mrs Gruenfeld
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
The Final weeks winners are………
52 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.
This week we had 214 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is an Amazing way to end the School Year!
A huge WELL DONE to you all.
Can you get 100% when we come back?
We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy. Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible. Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.
We look forward to seeing everyone again on Wednesday 4th September.
The Lunch menus will be changing in time for September, please take time to check them. Our lunches are served on a 3 week rota and we’ll be starting with Week 1 when we return.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
We’ll still be in the middle of Jump Back Up July next week, what actions will you take over the Summer Holidays?
