What a wonderfully busy week it has been.
A huge well done to our youngest pupils – the EYFS productions this week have been everything a Nativity should be. The children were wonderful, I am so impressed with how many lines many of them needed to remember! Thank you for attending and supporting your child/ren; it makes such a difference to them. We hope to see you again at one of our other Christmas events in the next two weeks.
This week, we had Miss Katie Adam, a visitor from the Department of Education, visit our school! The behaviour of the children was impeccable, a huge well done to everyone. Afterwards she had these words to say about our academy:
‘I wanted to extend a huge thank you to you both for your time, generosity of spirit and your commitment today. I was bowled over by your care, inclusivity, commitment and obvious pride in the children, staff and communities you serve.’
Do you know the school now uses Class Dojo? This is a great service for parents/carers to see what the children get up to daily at school.
It also shows parents/carers what the children have been getting points for, including being on time, working hard during class and good manners to teachers and their friends.
The children are also scored for meeting the Values we hold closely at Dormanstown Primary of Inspiration, Aspiration, Collaboration and Celebration
Also just a reminder that the Academy still uses School Gateway for any messages to be sent to the school. This includes Attendance, medical appointments and general questions.
Some Year 5 DPA pupils have arrived in London a day of fun chess activities at the London Chess Classic 2024. The event is taking take at the Emirates Stadium, North London, the home of Arsenal Football Club!
As well as activities for school children, the event includes an elite Grandmaster tournament, this time featuring Women’s World Champion, Ju Wenjun; current British Champion, Gawain Jones; defending LCC champion, Mickey Adams; and the UK’s youngest Grandmaster, fifteen-year-old Shreyas Royal. It looks very ‘Queen’s Gambit’ esque!
These lucky pupils (chosen by their chess tutor) with take part in chess lessons, meet a Grandmaster and compete in a chess tournament!
We are sending you all our best wishes!
Thank you to C2C, who have part-funded this experience for our children, as well as parents and the school.
A big thank you to all our family’s that attended our parental engagement afternoon.
We made a calendar inspired by our artist Iris Scott, who we studied at the beginning of this year and our science topic of the seasons. Parents and children all created some gorgeous calendars. Thank you again for taking part and making it such an enjoyable afternoon for the children.
We are thrilled to show you our new farm shop logo!
This logo has been designed with the Year 6 Junior Leadership Team over video call with artist and illustrator Eleanor Tomlinson Eleanor Tomlinson | Artist & Illustrator | East Yorkshire. You might recognise one of Eleanor’s prints that went viral during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
She was so impressed with the children’s thoughts and ideas. In the coming weeks you will be able to purchase tote shopper bags to help you to use our farm shop more sustainably.
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
22.5 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.
This week we had 183 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Wonderful!!
A huge WELL DONE to you all.
Can you get 100% next week?
We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy. Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible. Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.
Next week will, choices will be Week 3 with our Christmas lunch on Thursday.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
