Many thanks to parents and carers for taking the time to complete our parent survey over the two parent consultation evenings. The finds of the survey are shown below.
We value your feedback and as leaders we will be looking to address areas where we can improve our metrics. It was wonderful to see that so many members of the school community now regularly use Class Dojo to keep up to date with academy information, with this only being introduced in September, we thank you for your support.

We have spent lots of time building up to this final piece and if you have not seen it in person yet, here is the finished article! We hope that you see it at some point in the near future.
Do you know the school now uses Class Dojo? This is a great service for parents/carers to see what the children get up to daily at school.
It also shows parents/carers what the children have been getting points for, including being on time, working hard during class and good manners to teachers and their friends.
The children are also scored for meeting the Values we hold closely at Dormanstown Primary of Inspiration, Aspiration, Collaboration and Celebration
Also just a reminder that the Academy still uses School Gateway for any messages to be sent to the school. This includes Attendance, medical appointments and general questions.
From slicing, grating, shredding, chopping, mixing and creating, the children designed, and made, their own individual wraps tonight with a breakfast summer fruit dessert, which they struggled not to eat! Collectively, it was amazing to see how well the children co-operated and helped each other with the various skills – even cutting onions for others – true friendship and collaboration!
These skills acquired over the last two weeks will help the children with their future creations – shortbread, scones and Christmas cake are on the Bake-off menu to come. They will also be working towards a very special Christmas treat – top secret!
SPARK Tees Valley ran POW sessions in Dormanstown school as part of the Primary School Ambassador Program, working with Key Stage 2 pupils on the POW Ambassador Programme.
These sessions were designed to foster ambition, promote equal opportunities, and break down gender biases. All the children in Year 5 were able to join in the sessions and all children got the opportunity to write an application form.
Abigail Howey along with Sonia Herlingshaw from PX Group interviewed and handpicked four exceptional ambassadors from Dormanstown. These children were selected because they embodied commitment and passion.
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
30 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.
This week we had 207 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Fantastic!!
A huge WELL DONE to you all.
Can you get 100% next week?
We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy. Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances. If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible. Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.
New choices next week for Week 3.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
