We are back!
We hope all our families had a lovely week off school, and that you managed to rest and enjoy some time together.
As the nights grow dark, and the weather gets colder and wetter it has been amazing to see so many smiling faces at the door – and we have been delighted at how well learning has returned to our school.
Year Six students have started their reading and maths boosters, and have already shown the perfect attitudes towards revision; our new Christmas club has been hugely well received and enjoyed by all and classes are now beginning their new curriculum topic in art – so we are eagerly awaiting the inventive, individual and creative projects children will be working on in the next few weeks!
Next week we are hosting parents evening, and we are very excited to share your child’s work with you, as well as have the time to discuss how they are getting on. If you cannot attend, or are yet to make an appointment please let the office know and they can make arrangements for you.

For the first week back we’re focusing on Year 5, Year 6 and class B4.
We have had a really exciting week in Y5 this week. We have begun our new Art topic in our curriculum lessons.
This term we are looking at the work of the sculptor Andy Goldsworthy. He is famous for working with natural materials to create sculptures within a landscape.
We went outside to try it out for ourselves and we came up with some really interesting ideas!
Before the half term, Year Six visited Eden Camp.
We have been learning about World War II in our history lessons and once there we could go in the different themed huts.
We saw and learnt more about how the war started, the Blitz, rationing, streets at war and the U-boats. We had such an amazing day!
B4 have had a fantastic term.
MIMA has been a great experience where we explored various forms of art through the focus of Redcar beach.
This will be revisited as we enjoy art by Andy Goldsworthy where we will create natural sculptures in our environment.
We had a practiced of working with some of the materials which has been both fun and challenging. We loved the focus of looking at Scandinavia in Geography.
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
This week we had 215 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week. A huge WELL DONE to you all 😊
Can you get 100% next week?
We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy.
Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances.
If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible.
Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.
Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. Choices next week will be Week 2.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
Friday 17th November is Children in Need and we will be supporting and fundraising.
This years theme is to challenge yourself to be SPOTacular and will be taking part in Joe Wicks Pudsey Burpees Challenge.
For a donation of £1 children can come dressed in spots, Children in need clothing or their own clothes. Decorating a t-shirt with colourful spots using felt tip pens is an easy, inexpensive way to join the fun.
A monthly Newsletter filled with news, information and events for all things SEND in the Redcar & Cleveland Area. You can read or download the latest newsletter here.
As we are all being affected by the cost-of-living crisis, we have a small stock of preloved uniform and coats/jackets that parents can come and purchase, all we are asking for is a donation. This will be open for you to come and have a look on a Tuesday & Thursday between 08.50 – 09.15 and 14.40 – 15.00 via the main office.
You can also get your children’s uniform here.
Lollipops have a preloved rail out on the shop floor with various items on including polo tops, trousers, sweatshirts/cardigans, shoes, plimsolls, summer dresses etc. All items on the rail are free for anyone to take, they just ask for customers to be considerate of others when taking items. There is a box for anyone who would like to make donations which we then add to the rail.
