1T/2S School Trip to Danby Moor

18th October 2019

On Friday 18th October, 2S and 1T are going on an educational visit to North York Moors National Park Centre as part of our topic work this half term.

This activity day links to the Geographical Skills and Fieldwork we are looking at over the course of the term and is inspired by Nick Butterworth’s book ‘The Treasure Hunt’. The day will consist of two activities with a lunch break in between.

We will leave the Academy at 9.00 am on a coach and arrive back in time for the children to be collected as normal for the end of the day. As we will be outdoors for most of the day, we are asking children to wear suitable trousers and footwear such as jogging bottom and trainers and we ask that they wear their school jumper as normal. The children will require a coat that will keep them warm and dry if the weather is not great while we are there. The children will be provided with a packed lunch from school if they normally receive a school dinner. If you wish to send your child with their own packed lunch, please ensure they have a range of healthy options and no fizzy drinks or cans.

While the Academy are subsidising part of our visit, we are asking parents for a voluntary contribution of £3.00 towards the visit.

Yesterday, pupils in Year 4, Year 5 and S4 had an 'other-worldy' experience in a pop-up planetarium thanks to the team from the Life Centre in Newcastle. When I went to see how they were getting on, a meteorite had just hit their 'spaceship' and they were furiously sending Morse code messages to satellites! Year 5 and S4 have an in-person trip to the centre later in this week and more pictures will follow...

A HUGE thank you to Business in the Community who have funded our full height KS1/2 mud kitchen for the playground. This has been built from a mixture of pallet/ reclaimed wood and was built by Bettys interiors, a Tees Valley based supplier.
There are giant utensils, potion bottles, cauldrons, all sorts of table ware and of course, a digging planter!

DONATIONS: We are looking for donations of old pots and pans. If you have any, please do bring them into the main office.

The count down is on! Arlo joins the Team at DPA after half term. He is currently finishing off his therapy dog training and has made a flying start with the first 6, of 8, modules completed to an excellent standard. Arlo is a 6 year old labrador, he loves walks, especially swimming in the sea. His ears are very soft! He loves to give cuddles and is very calm when someone is upset or distressed.
He has spent some time in school over holiday periods and is very happy on site. For more information please check your Dojo account.

It was an absolute privilege for our Year 6 junior leaders to work with @etomlinson_art last term on the development of our new farm shop logo. We love our new @GetStampeduk stamp for our farm shop brown bags @teesvalleyed #combattingfoodwaste #BetterLiving #fareshare
