Over the last two weeks the children in the academy have been undertaking assessments, and we would like to say well done to them all for their focus and concentration to showcase their learning.
It was lovely to welcome parents and carers from 4H to support their children with a Christmas sewing task as well as those from morning and afternoon Nursery who enjoyed their parental engagement afternoon. We were also proud of 3L undertaking their class assembly to an enthusiastic audience. B3G have also had a successful week with their swimming afternoons.
Our EYFS and KS1 classes have been busy practising their Christmas Performances, so please look out for letters on the School Gateway to book tickets.
Next week, we look forward to the Trust Carol Service in Guisborough on Monday, our exciting Reindeer Run on Wednesday as well as the EYFS Christmas Performances on Thursday and Friday mornings, panto visits for both key stages and more parental engagement afternoons! It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks!
Keep an eye on the diary dates below and School Gateway messages for updates on events.
This week, our featured classes are 5H and 6A so please enjoy reading what they have been learning about.
Last week, Year 5 presented their performance to their parents. The children based this on the book they have been reading titled Shackleton’s Journey.
This is a non-fiction book about Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 expedition to the Antarctic. As a whole class we worked together to deliver the performance to the best of our ability, working on loud voices, changes in tone and emphasis as well as calming any nerves.
On the day the children performed excellent with the love for the book really coming across. Well done 5H!
In Year 6, we have been studying the work of Henry Moore in art. We created sketches using his techniques and then we moved on to looking at his abstract sculptures.
We then designed and created our own clay models. First we created an abstract model of a person in the London Underground during World War II, then we created a tile which was the face of someone from the war.
Every week we celebrate the children who demonstrate the core values of the academy and now we would like to invite the parents of the winners in to witness their children being celebrated.
We will send a message via our school gateway app on Thursdays inviting the parents of those children in with the times for the assembly.
Remember to keep this secret, we want to surprise the children who win.
As you may be aware the children from KS1 & KS2, are going out to see pantomime shows next week.
We must mention how important it is for us to have consent for the children to visit the theatres, if you have not already given consent, can you please do so via the school gateway app as soon as possible.
If you are having any issues please come into the main office.
We will send messages out if there are any changes to return times due to traffic on the days of the trips.
Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.
Which class will be the first to receive that treat?
This weeks winners are 5H, congratulations.
As you will be aware we are using an app service called School Gateway to communicate with parents. You can now report your child’s absence through the app. If we have not heard from you, we will be sending out attendance messages which you can reply to, which will come directly to the team.
We would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday 7th December at 12.30pm for tea/coffee and a mince pie, before watching the children take part in a sponsored Reindeer Run for Teesside Hospice. Your child will bring a sponsor form home today, please do not feel obliged to raise lots, every little helps.
The academy choir will also provide some Christmas cheer.
Please see attached our poster for all of the information.
We hope to see you there!
We need your help in designing a new warm up t-shirt that sends out a simple message that ‘Football is for Everyone’.
We want to see your creative side and design a warm up t-shirt for the players during our River-Side-By-Side game against QPR during Pride History Month (February).
The chosen winner will not only win tickets to the game but all see their t-shirt come to life and professionally made so that the players themselves can wear these during warm up.
The competition will close Sunday 18th December
Please send your entries to Amy.Campbell@mfcfoundation.co.uk
Next weeks Menu will be week 3
