Weekly Round up

Well, that’s it!

A long, but hugely rewarding 8 weeks are over – and we would firstly like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our families and community for such an outstanding year we have had so far!

It feels like an awfully long time ago that we returned from the summer, but the progress all classes have made has been astounding, and you can all be incredibly proud of the work children have put in already to making this year a success.

This week has been no different!

We have had trips galore, with Y4 visiting MIMA for some amazing art exhibitions, Y6 reflecting on the profound effect of World War II by visiting Eden Camp, and the half term was capped of in style by our choir, who joined the rest of our trust for a beautiful concert at Guisborough Church.

We were also joined this week by our Year 1 and 2 parents for a Read Write Inc coffee morning, which was a lovely opportunity to catch up on reading, talk about the groups children are currently in – and to share what is working well both in school and at home. After the holidays we look forward to inviting in families to see our sessions in action – and to join in with some reading classes!

Finally, we had the excitement and fun of the halloween disco, which was a huge success and loved by all!

Class Round up

For the final blog this half term let’s hear from Year 3, Year 4 and class B3

Y3

Year 3 have enjoyed learning about direct speech within their English lessons.

They have discovered the 5 finger speech rule and are starting to be able to remember it without prompts.

They have also been learning about mass in Maths and were able to find the weight of different objects around the classroom.

Y4

This term Year 4, have been working on bridges in gymnastics.

We have been working hard on a range gymnastic skills such as: co-ordination,  balance, strength and flexibility.

We have practised individual balances, as well as collaborative balances that demonstrated excellent team work.

B3

B3 have been experimenting in science to see which type of soil was the most permeable.

We also talked about how we made sure it was a fair test by having the same amount of soil and water.

Attendance

Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.

Missed Learning

 34.5 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.

100% Attendance

This week we had 226 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week. A huge WELL DONE to you all 😊

Missed Appointments

We strive to accommodate parents/carers with appointment times within the academy.

Unfortunately we have noticed that many appointments have been missed, occasionally this may be due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you have to cancel and/or re-arrange your appointment, please ensure you contact the academy as soon as possible.

Failing to turn up for an appointment and not contacting the academy to cancel it has an adverse effect on other parents/carers appointment times. This can also take valuable staff time that could have been utilised by other parents.

Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. When we return it will be Week 1.

On Monday, instead of Carrot Cake the children will have the option of Bonfire Parkin cake instead.

Uniforms

As we are all being affected by the cost-of-living crisis, we have a small stock of preloved uniform and coats/jackets that parents can come and purchase, all we are asking for is a donation. This will be open for you to come and have a look on a Tuesday & Thursday between 08.50 – 09.15 and 14.40 – 15.00 via the main office.

Lollipops

You can also get your children’s uniform here.

Lollipops have a preloved rail out on the shop floor with various items on including polo tops, trousers, sweatshirts/cardigans, shoes, plimsolls, summer dresses etc. All items on the rail are free for anyone to take, they just ask for customers to be considerate of others when taking items. There is a box for anyone who would like to make donations which we then add to the rail.
