Dormanstown Primary Academy are committed to providing children with high quality physical education experiences that enable pupils to develop physical fitness, thinking and social skills . Children will develop positive attitudes towards physical activity and sport and will be encouraged to have a healthy life style which will enrich all aspects of their future.
Children learn about the six school games values: Passion, Self-Belief, Honesty, Determination, Team Work, and Respect. Pupils aim to demonstrate these values when taking part in sport, entering competitions and in all aspects of school life.
In PE lessons children will work individually, in pairs and in teams. Pupils will have opportunities to develop leadership skills and they will learn how to compete fairly. Physical education lessons will support children to develop their physical literacy and will be enjoyable experiences where children will have lots of fun.
Pupils are given 2 hours of high quality PE in curriculum time. All year groups follow a curriculum map and teachers use the LCP scheme of work to support their delivery of physical activities and sports.
Children attend inter competitions where they compete against other academies. They also compete in intra competitions against their peers in PE lessons and on sports days.
Playtime is an adventure for the children as Dormanstown has a very innovative outdoor area which includes lovely paths, landscaped hills, fabulous trim trail equipment and a Multi-use games arena.
Our youngest children in foundation stage have the freedom to explore the outdoor area on their scooters and trikes and love to pedal around the paths. All children have regular use of the physically challenging trim trail equipment and fantastic multi- use games arena.
