I hope your child has had a good first week back. There have certainly been lots of smiling faces -both staff and pupils.
There was a full programme of works over the Summer that included new flooring in some classrooms and redecoration; school looks bright, inviting and inspiring.
As we have organised our reading books and our library spaces over the Summer, we have sorted over 400 books that are surplus to our requirements. Next week, we hope to hold a book giveaway for families at school pick up time. We will look at the weather each day and judge the best day to do this. You will receive a reminder on the day we choose. There are books for all school ages and interests.
As you know, the Main Entrance has been relocated back to its original design, and we have forged a space for our ‘Community Hub’ in our previous entrance. There are several very exciting plans for this as we look to offer more to our school community beyond the education we offer our pupils, to help our families in a more holistic way, and I look forward to giving you further information in the coming weeks.
All of our pupils are looking smart this term. It has been fantastic to see everyone trying their best to look smart and ready for learning. A reminder that we do have some second hand uniform and plenty of second-hand PE Kit; for full PE kits, all we ask is for a £1 donation (optional). Please come to the main office or the ‘Community Hub’ entrance at any time during school hours.
This week we have been focusing on getting routines right (there have been some small changes in the process) and getting expectations and behaviour right and it has been wonderful to see everyone trying very hard. Every class has been focusing on our four school values and discussing what each of them mean in an age-appropriate way.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families joining us across the school – whether your child is starting school for the first time, or you have moved from another school, we know that change can be emotional and challenging at times. If you need any support, please do reach out. We are always here to help.
I know that you will also join me in welcoming new staff to the school.
Finally, a reminder about the importance of attendance and, in particular, punctuality – We want everyone to have the very best chance of success at school, so we aim for everyone to have over 96% attendance. School starts at 8.40 a.m. every day. Children need to be in their class line by 8.45 a.m. so that they can start their lessons promptly. The gate closes at 8.50am.
We will continue to work closely with families who struggle with getting to school. Please contact Mrs Sherwood on the school number if you have any issues.
Thank you for your support.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend.
Mrs Kell

Lollipops have a preloved rail out on the shop floor with various items on including polo tops, trousers, sweatshirts/cardigans, shoes, plimsolls, summer dresses etc. All items on the rail are free for anyone to take, they just ask for customers to be considerate of others when taking items. There is a box for anyone who would like to make donations which we then add to the rail.
