Weekly Round up

We’ve had a great week at school, with lots to share and celebrate across the whole academy!

Reception headed out to a balance festival, and amazed their teachers with their skills. They had the chance to use a whole range of equipment including beams, bikes and obstacles to improve their stability and movement.

All classes have made an amazing start to their new art topics, and the school has been awash with colour, as the children explore paint, texture and images with a diverse range of artists as inspiration.

In Year 3/4 we have held football trials for our boys and girls teams, giving children the chance to show off their soccer skills. It has been an incredibly difficult decision to pick our teams, but every child can be immensely proud of how well they competed.

This week also saw the first of our parental coffee mornings, as we introduced early reading using Read, Write Inc. We are very grateful to all the parents and carers who attended – watch this space for more events coming soon!

Class Showcase

This week is the turn of Nursery, Reception and B1R classes to show what they’ve been doing.

Nursery

In Nursery this week, we have been learning all about the Lunar New Year and have joined in with some fun, exciting activities. We now know how the Lunar New Year is celebrated.

We have tried dragon dancing, prawn cracker tasting and Chinese writing.

We can’t wait for next year.

Reception

This week reception had great fun at the sports festival, we tackled challenging obstacle courses on the balance bikes and worked together as a team to complete the other activities.

The children were extremely well behaved and showed great determination.

They particularly enjoyed learning to ride their bikes around the mini round about and zooming down the fast lane on their bikes.

B1R

For the last couple of weeks, B1R are have been learning about how Chinese and some Asian families celebrate Chinese and Lunar New Year.

On Monday, we role-played being a Chinese family. We cleaned and tidied our home area ready for the celebration. We decorated the home area with lanterns and other Chinese decorations and prepared a Reunion dinner for our friends.

We then tried some delicious Chinese food and took part in a dragon dance. It was lots of fun!

Awesome Attendance

Each week we have an ‘Awesome Attendance’ competition for the class or classes with the highest attendance. The class with the highest attendance will receive a letter and the first class to spell out ‘Awesome’ receives a treat for the whole class.

Which class will be the first to receive that treat?

This weeks winners are……..

Missed Learning

13 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.

Lunch Menu

Next weeks menu choice will be week 2

Packed Lunches

We have noticed that some packed lunches are containing a high proportion of sugary items. Please can we ask that if you are putting a treat in your child’s packed lunch, then this is limited to one item?

We do not allow Prime or sugary drinks such as Coke, Dr Pepper, Fanta and other brands to be brought into the academy.
