The Planetarium

During the year 5 topic of ‘Stargazers’ the children have learnt lots about our solar system.

To help with their understanding, we arranged a visit from the Centre of Life in Newcastle. Two members of their team visited school with an inflatable planetarium.

It was set up in the hall and the children had the opportunity to see the nights sky in a variety of stages. The experience was wonderful and engaging for the children, and was enjoyed by them all and staff alike.

We discovered what planets you can view from earth using the naked eye and looked at different constellations. From this, the children have written their own fantastic stories about the myths behind a constellation.

The planetarium was a brilliant experience!
