Dormanstown Primary Academy took a party of 36 children to London this year. It was a fun packed two days, enjoyed by our children and also 24 children from Brambles Primary Academy. The bus left school at 6:30am, and all children and teachers were very excited.
We arrived at The Premier Inn Hotel in Blackfriers after a bus tour of the Olympic village and Olympic stadiums. After checking in, all 70 of us were brave enough to catch the underground and we went to The London Aquarium where we had an amazing time walking amongst sharks, tickling starfish and watching penguins. We learned such a lot and had a great experience. We then went aboard the London Eye and saw all the sights of London from the air – the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel at 135m (443 feet) high so definitely not for the feint hearted! We then walked across Westminster Bridge to the Houses of Parliament and heard Big Ben chime. We sat amongst artefacts from the movies dining in Planet Hollywood before collapsing into bed exhausted back at the hotel.
We were up bright and early on the second day to enjoy a hearty breakfast before leaving the hotel for Ripley’s Believe it or Not. We saw a whole host of weird and wonderful things before testing our skills in the mirror maze and laser race. We then headed to the theatre to see the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was absolutely amazing.
We returned to school at midnight with 36 very tired children and 6 absolutely exhausted teachers!
We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
